We’re currently looking for an Immigration Attorney.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end process of initiating and filing work permit applications and renewals for RingCentral employees and dependent residence permits for their family members
Manage and oversee an immigration paralegal who will assist with preparation and submission of applications for work and residence permits, review all applications before submission, and provide direction as needed to ensure filings are prepared and submitted with required legal argumentation to obtain approvals
Provide instruction and advice to employees on questions relating to their work and residence permit applications, including questions about required documents, international travel, compliance with their immigration status, legal rights and benefits in Spain based on their immigration status, and related questions
Provide legal advice and guidance to RingCentral on filing strategies for individual cases, how to handle unique or complex situations relating to employee filings, overall immigration compliance, document retention, and other issues relating to immigration filings and work permit holders
Liaise and maintain contact with government authorities, consulates/embassies, and other agencies as needed to promote efficient and effective processing of RingCentral’s cases and to obtain guidance on complex or unique matters
Ensure employees and HR team are receiving regular and timely updates on status of immigration filings
Provide regular reports and tracking data on volume of applications filed, success rates, and other KPIs
Stay updated and informed on legal and regulatory changes that may impact RingCentral’s immigration filings or work permit holders and provide advice on any internal changes required to comply with new laws
Requirements:
Spanish – C1, English – B2
5+ years of experience as an immigration attorney preparing and filing employment-based work and residence permit applications and visas for employees and family members, including specifically high-qualified worker permits and EU Blue Cards
Knowledge of requirements for document submission, including translation, legalization and apostille requirements for immigration filings
Experience assisting applicants who have complex cases and situations, including unique education and work experience qualifications, transitioning from other statuses within Spain, and obtaining work experience documentation from various countries with limited government documents available
Experience advising a multinational company on issues relating to inter-country work, impact of company actions on immigration statuses, immigration compliance issues, and management of immigration hires and documents in line with Spanish regulations
Experience handling a high volume of cases and maintaining communication with applicants for updates on the status of their cases
Experience liaising with immigration authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies/consulates, and related authorities to resolve complex issues or questions and ensure decisions are received in an efficient manner
Excellent communication skills
Licenciatura en Derecho (licenciatura = old plan of 5 years, Master's was not mandatory) or Grado en Derecho + Máster de Acceso a la Abogacía (under new plan) to meet requirements for practice of law in Spain
