General Statement of Job

The Multilingual Instructional Assistant position will support a caseload of multilingual learners in all aspects of their educational experience. 
The Multilingual Instructional Assistant will assist the Multilingual Coordinator and ML  teachers and support family involvement/engagement activities during and after school. The Multilingual Instructional Assistant will also support with school communication between parents of English language learners and school staff. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity skills to bridge language gaps.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Multilingual K-12 Instructional Assistant must have excellent communication and literacy skills in English and a second language (Spanish) 

•  Provide language support to multilingual learner students, helping them with content classroom activities,

•  Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who need additional language and academic support

• Help students understand lessons and complete assignments. 

• These bilingual skills and qualifications enable effective support for both teachers and students, ensuring an inclusive and collaborative classroom environment.

• Strong advocate for multilingual students and their families

• Maintains an equity lens that elevates the voices of students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Hispanic and other communities.

• Excellent technology skills to support students and parents in accessing school resources and information.
