The Accounting Clerk role is responsible for assisting the Accounting Department in a variety of tasks and responsibilities, such as maintaining Accounting Records, assisting in Account Reconciliations, Data Entry/Input, Maintaining Databases or Project Module Information, verification of financial reports and statements, assists with schedules, checking for accuracy in reports, figures and postings and assisting with projects in the Accounting Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing general ledger accounting functions as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of ensuring the department functions are completed in an accurate and timely manner during short times of need.
  • Documents/Substantiates financial transactions by entering account information/auditing documents.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains financial security by following accounting controls/recommending policies and procedures.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Developing and building teams, encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARDS.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.

License and/or Certification Required:

  • None                                                                                                 

Knowledge, skills and Abilities:

Knowledge Of:

  • Processing information – Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing or verifying information or data.
  • Economics and Accounting  principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Accounting laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders and agency rules.
  • Administrative and clerical procedures and the systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

Skills:

  • Active learning – Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Ability To:

  • Use inductive Reasoning – combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Information ordering – arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
