Job Description:
As a Welder on our Mine Maintenance team, you will perform welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair work to maintain and improve mining equipment and infrastructure. This role requires a focus on safety, quality workmanship, and continuous learning in a dynamic, outdoor mining environment.
Day to Day:
Welding – Repair and Fabrication: Performing welding tasks to repair and fabricate parts and machinery used in our mining operations.
Mechanical Repairs and Maintenance: Engaging in mechanical repairs, installations, inspections, and preventative maintenance of equipment.
Safety First: Consistently follow safety rules, report hazards, and take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment.
Skill Development: You’ll need excellent communication skills and a willingness to continually learn and adapt as you tackle challenging projects.
Suggest Improvements: We value your input—offer safety and operational improvement suggestions when you see opportunities for change.
Is This You?
Welding Certification: Must be able to pass 3G, 4G (SMAW/GMAW) weld test when required.
Experience: Entry-level applicants are welcome, but we are particularly interested in experienced welders looking to transition to mining or continue growing in this field.
Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience.
Basic Skills: Ability to read, write, and apply basic math and science skills in day-to-day tasks.
Reliability: Demonstrated consistency in previous work roles, showing a strong work ethic and commitment.
Working Conditions & Location:
Location: This role is based at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine site, located at elevations between 9,400 ft. and 10,600 ft. above sea level.
Exposure to Weather: You will work in varying weather conditions that can sometimes become severe. Your ability to adapt and perform tasks in these conditions is crucial.
Shift Work: 12-hour shifts that rotate between day and night work. Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Tech Levels and Career Advancement:
At SSR Mining Cripple Creek & Victor, we reward skill development and expertise. Successful applicants will be hired at a Tech level that matches their experience, education, and training, with opportunities to move up through our structured Tech Level Program. Here’s a brief overview:

Tech 3: 1–2 years of experience in mine maintenance welding or a relevant field. Basic welding knowledge with a strong commitment to safety.
Tech 4: 2–3 years of experience. Able to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision, proficient in repair and fabrication.
Tech 5: 3–4 years of experience. Highly skilled in critical machine weld repairs and complex fabrications, leads by example, and helps train others.
Tech 6: 5+ years of experience, highly skilled in (SMAW,FCAW,GMAW) welding processes. Proficient in machining and line bore processes, leads by example, and helps train others.
To advance to higher Tech levels, you’ll complete a self-evaluation based on established requirements, followed by an evaluation from supervisors. Advancement is based solely on passing the evaluation process—there’s no competition for promotion.

For applicants residing in CO, the hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role will depend on the level, and the range of the hourly rate is $31.93/hr. (Tech 1) – 47.61/hr. (Tech 6).
