General Description/Primary Purpose
The University Licensing Manager will oversee and manage the licensing of the University's trademarks and brand elements. This role involves identifying potential licensing opportunities, managing relationships with the university’s collegiate licensing partners, and elevating the University’s market presence.
Job Functions:
Safeguard the University's Brand: Ensure the university's brand image, trademarks and visual identity are protected in retail products and promotional materials. This involves monitoring for unauthorized use and taking appropriate action to address infringements.
Brand Elevation: Work with collegiate licensing partner to seek new opportunities to expand retail sales of branded items and partnerships to elevate the brand.
Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential licensing opportunities. Use this information to make data-driven decisions and adjust strategies as needed.
Oversee Licensing Program: Develop and implement comprehensive licensing strategies that align with the university's goals. This includes reviewing licensing applications, negotiating contracts with licensees, and ensuring that all agreements are beneficial to the university.
Contract Negotiation: Work closely with legal and financial teams to negotiate favorable terms with licensees, ensuring that all contracts comply with University policies and legal requirements.
Revenue Generation: Continuously seek out new licensing opportunities with the contracted licensing vendor to generate additional revenue for the University. This involves market research, identifying potential licensees, and developing innovative licensing programs.
Manage Licensing Partners: Build and maintain strong relationships with licensing partners, including the collegiate licensing vendor and other vendors.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with various vendors to ensure that all licensed products meet the University's standards and are delivered on time.
Required Qualifications
Master's and 1+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
