Zingerman’s Bakehouse is looking for a customer service specialist in our wholesale office.  Join our amazing team giving great service to our customers selling our delicious food and fun classes!

Bonus points if you really enjoy a well written SOP (standard operating procedure). Join our Service Department and thrive in an environment where you can truly be yourself while you help give the Zingerman’s Experience to our wholesale customers, guests, & students. Starting wage is $16.50 (negotiable based on experience).

What can you expect?

• A welcoming workplace where you can bring your whole quirky self to work; it's appreciated and acknowledged
• To take wholesale customer’s orders over the phone and email, as well as process those orders in our computer system. You’ll also review wholesale customers’ online orders
• Additionally, you’ll register students for our BAKE! Classes, along with fielding calls & emails from them
• To communicate at a high level within the department and Bakehouse in an organized & thorough manner
• Occasionally to drive a company vehicle to make things right for our customers
• Occasionally to help in production departments or our retail Bakeshop if necessary

Skills & qualifications we’re looking for:

• Telephone service experience and/or previous retail or wholesale service preferred
• Good with numbers, organized, timely, and dependable
• Word, Excel, Google apps experience are a plus
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving record
• Enthusiastic, outgoing, and courteous with a passion for great food and great service
• Perform well under pressure, good with deadlines
• Exhibits a desire to learn, and is a fast learner
• High energy level, positive attitude & good interpersonal skills
• Works with a sense of urgency and enjoys a fast paced environment
• Enjoys working on a team and has good follow-through skills
• Able to deal successfully with task-switching and high stress situations
• Excellent attendance and punctuality
• Has reliable transportation
• Likes to have fun at work, but understands the work still needs to get done

Availability:

• This job is full-time, up to 40 hours a week.  Shifts are around 8 hours between the hours of 7am - 5:30pm
• Weekend & holiday availability is a must
• Full availability in November and December (we don’t take any extra time off during these months)

Physical Demands:

• Able to work at a desk, standing or sitting for long periods of time   
• On occasions, we assist in other parts of the bakery.  You may be asked to perform tasks that include physical demands like repetitive motion (such as scooping cookies), lifting/moving heavy objects (up to 30 lbs), etc.

Zingerman’s Bakehouse is a wholesale bakery, retail shop, and baking school for home bakers. We sell to specialty food stores, cafés and restaurants in southeastern Michigan as well as selling to Zingerman’s Mail Order, who ship our baked goods everywhere in the United States. We are dedicated bakers and food lovers committed to making and selling the best breads, pastries and cakes we can imagine. We are real artisan bakers, meaning we use traditional methods and flavorful ingredients to make our food.
