Summary/Objective:  

This position is responsible for the continued development, coordination, and implementation of the education and recreation programs for unaccompanied children in care.  The goal of the programs is to meet and, when possible, exceed the requirements of the required educational and daily physical activities of large and small muscle exercises for youth in care, with consideration of cultural activities.  

Essential Functions:

1. Works in collaboration with the Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, and other staff to ensure physical education and recreational programming meet and/or exceed all program requirements.
2. Plan, organize, supervise, and implement recreation and physical education activities for youth in coordination with counseling and school staff, considering program requirements. This may include weekends and holidays as necessary.
3. Work with the staff and youth to identify on-site and off-site activities they will enjoy.
4. Work within the budget provided.
5. Responsible for entering information on the Portal regarding each youth’s participation in the program as indicated by ORR policy.
6. Maintain recreation facilities and equipment, as needed, to ensure safety.

Expected Hours of Work:

This is an in-person full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday and may included more than 40 hours a week.  Holiday, weekend and evening work may be required as job duties demand. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred, AA required
• Prior supervisory experience
• Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• A strong working knowledge of the needs of immigrant youth.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required. 
• Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates.
• Have and maintain Professional Assault Crisis Training (ProACT)  
• Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license and good driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
