Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Occupational Safety, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 8 years of experience in electrical safety, high-reliability electrical operations, electrical design, or a related field within mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, heavy industrial, power generation).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, particularly in Electrical Engineering.
  • Specialized certifications related to electrical testing (e.g., NETA) or high-voltage safety.
  • Authorization to be a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) Trainer or equivalent.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

This role serves as the principal Electrical Safety Leader, responsible for defining, aligning, and implementing a comprehensive, cross-functional vision and strategy aimed at achieving electrical safety across the entire data center fleet. In this role, you will act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical authority to influence safe design, construction, and operational practices, while simultaneously leading a robust portfolio of core electrical safety programs. A core function of this role is driving innovation by researching, standardizing, and deploying cutting-edge technologies and practices to elevate safety performance, all while establishing and enforcing a rigorous compliance and risk management framework backed by stringent KPI tracking and a formalized training and competency governance structure for all personnel.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, align, and implement a comprehensive, cross-functional electrical safety vision and strategy to achieve performance across all data center operations.
  • Advocate for and lead the research, evaluation, and piloting of industry leading innovation in electrical design, construction, and operation.
  • Lead the execution and governance of a portfolio of core electrical safety programs.
  • Act as the organization's primary SME, providing authoritative technical guidance on electrical systems, design standards, operational safety practices, and electrical safety related incident investigations.
  • Establish a framework and system to ensure strict compliance with all applicable local, national, and international electrical safety regulations/company standards. Establish the electrical safety training and competency governance structure.
