PlayCV is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to bring fun and enriching after-school classes, programs, camps and activities to TK - 8th grade students in our community. We strive to bring enrichment programs that both further and introduce subject matters of interest. Our intention is to foster team and individual growth while developing social interactions. All of our programs take place onsite at any one of the Castro Valley Unified School District’s elementary or middle schools. 


PlayCV is proud to offer an extensive Theater Arts program for any interested student. This position is ideal for high school students who are passionate about theater or musicals. Each school year, PlayCV creates a Musical Theater Performance class. PlayCV is committed to providing high-quality, engaging theater education to elementary and middle school students. Our goal is to inspire creativity, build confidence, and foster a love for the performing arts.


Position Summary:

PlayCV is seeking a passionate Musical Theater Support staff to join our team during the 2025/26 school year. The role involves supporting our Musical Theater Performance class. 


Expected Time Commitment: 4-10 hours per week, Monday - Thursday late afternoons. Timeline Commitment: October - January. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning & Preparation: Assist with preparing, and organizing all necessary materials for the classes.
  • Accompany and support students backstage during tech rehearsal and performances.
  • Assist Musical Theater Director and Assistant Musical Theater Director in preparation and throughout rehearsals.
  • Oversee and engage with students in the classroom.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • This is an entry level role designed to support introduction to theater arts production and career growth. 
  • At least 6 months of experience working with children.
  • A basic understanding of musical theater and the production process is required.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multitask and solve problems quickly in a decisive, creative and proactive manner. 
  • Having a background in dance or choir is a plus. 
  • Bilingual candidates are a plus.
  • Must be available for all class and final show dates.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a work permit.
  • Negative TB test within the last 4 years
  • Able to travel to multiple work sites.
  • Must attend any PlayCV required training.
