JOB SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Workplace Health is one who administers nursing care to selected patients under the guidance and supervision of a professional registered nurse, physician assistant (PA), or physician (MD). He/She performs duties as assigned according to the complexity of the nursing needs of the adult patient ages 18-65 within his/her range of experience and preparation. Duties may include health promotion as well as patient care. Duties may also require training in medical office assistant duties as well as clerical/billing duties.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care WorkPlace Health.
2. Performs direct patient care as assigned according to the complexity of the nursing needs of the patient within his/her range of experience and preparation.
3. Provides nursing care which conforms with the established standards of care based on the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of WorkPlace Health.
4. Provides for the total needs of the patient as directed.
5. Skillfully performs nursing procedures for which he/she has been prepared including phlebotomy, hearing and vision testing, PPD testing, pulmonary testing, and audio testing.
6. Consults with supervisor or registered nurse for assistance and guidance for care of patients and/or any departmental problems.
7. Observes and reports any changing status of the patients to the supervisor.
8. Documents patient care according to departmental procedure. Charting should be accurate, neat, and concise. (Charging should include subjective and observational data, immediate or future plans, nursing directives or interventions, evaluation of interventions and revision of plan when appropriate.)
9. Gives medication as delegated an in accordance with administration of medication procedure.
10. Actively participates in patient centered conferences with WorkPlace health supervisor.
11. Follows proper channels of communication.
12. Communicates personal learning needs to WorkPlace Health supervisor.
13. Communicates non-nursing problems to supervisor.
14. Attends and participates in Staff Development programs as required by supervisor.
15. Maintains good interpersonal relationships between patients, families, staff, other personal and contract companies (present and proposed).
16. Work in the office or in the “job site” as assigned.
17. Performs other duties as assigned for efficient functioning of the unit.
18. Complete annual CPR program.
19. Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
20. Participates on available committees when asked.
21. Attends In-services as necessary.
22. Assists clerical staff in scheduling, billing, filing and other clinical duties as assigned.
23. Participates in “health promotion” as well as “patient care activities” as assigned.
