About The Role

As the Director of Finance at MGIC Investment Corporation, you’ll lead the day-to-day finance activities reporting to the VP Treasurer. This is a hands-on role, and you’ll be responsible for all aspects of corporate finance, providing critical insights that drive business decisions and execute deliverables for executive management. This is a strong opportunity for a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to shape financial strategy and impact the company’s growth and success.

What the role entails:

Leadership and management

  • Provide leadership and real-time coaching and development opportunities to corporate finance and investment team members
  • Conduct the annual performance review process for direct reports, including compensation administration

Corporate Finance

  • Lead the financial planning process, including forecasting, reporting of business financials, and budgeting; execute the annual planning and quarterly forecast cycle, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and necessary documentation
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario analysis, business cases, and strategic initiatives
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure business health, derive business insights, and promote operational efficiency.
  • Maintain rating agency relationships and related capital models. Evaluate the impact of strategic operational and financial decisions on rating agency metrics.
  • Partner cross-functionally across the company to evaluate strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations for senior management; exhibit strong communication skills to effectively convey financial insights and strategies.

Investments & Treasury

  • Be involved in investment strategy projects to align investment allocation with long-term financial plans, considering risk, return, and regulatory objectives and constraints.
  • Monitor and report on investment performance, market conditions, and economic trends
  • Ensure adherence to investment guidelines, policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Liaison with external investment managers and custodians to coordinate investment activities, monitor transactions, and coordinate quarterly reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting and valuation related matters.
  • Collaborate across the treasury team to optimize liquidity planning for business operations and investment.

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND

  • Experience in financial analysis, forecasting, month-end close, and budgeting processes, with high attention to detail
  • Strong foundation in Finance, capital markets, and financial modeling
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting
  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Experience with computer programming languages (i.e. R, Python) beneficial
  • Curious, with insightful ability to identify trends and themes for continuous improvement across the finance team
  • Interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration among team members and business partners throughout the organization; demonstrates skill and ease working within groups and senior leadership, contributes ideas, opinions and skills towards achievement of a common goal
  • Experience developing talent, inspiring and motivating teammates and achieving results.
  • CPA/CTP/CFA preferred

Pay Range:

 

$134,130.00 - $228,030.00

 

This range aligns with current market data and reflects our commitment to competitive and equitable compensation. Salary offers are based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and training. The range may vary in certain locations to reflect local market conditions. It is not typical to initiate pay at the top of the range to account for internal equity and allow for future and continued salary growth
