This position is responsible for the billing functions for MyMichigan Health and MyMichigan Medical Group physician practices. This position is responsible for billing and follow up of insurance accounts. It includes verification of benefits and communication with the insurance companies. It requires review of the general appropriateness of account balances.
Responsibilities:(100%)* Submits new electronic and paper insurance claims. Performs follow up on outstanding insurance � OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews outstanding physician insurance claims on a timely basis. � Processes additional billings as required to obtain maximum payment on account. � Responds to correspondence appropriate to area of responsibility. � Communicates effectively with other department staff to resolve insurance billing issues. � Maintains accuracy of insurance and patient account status. � Understands payer billing requirements. � Resolve credit balances. � Performs other miscellaneous related duties. |

Required Education:Education: HIGH
Equivalent Experience: High school diploma. Experience in medical billing, medical office setting and medical terminology perferred. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Software preferred.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Good written and oral communication skills.

One year experience in a computerized medical setting.

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
