The Credit Analyst will play a critical role in evaluating and assessing the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients. Your primary responsibilities include analyzing financial data and credit reports to determine the risk associated with lending money or extending credit to individuals and businesses and ensuring that all reviews and renewals in the loan portfolio are up to date. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Analyzes all new commercial and residential loan requests received from the Loan Officers.

  • Ensures the accuracy and completion of all loan applications submitted for approval.

  • Analyzes all required financial data (tax returns, personal and business financial statements, credit reports, property appraisals, etc.) to determine the creditworthiness of the borrowers.

  • Approves, denies, or counteroffers loan requests based on financial analysis and risk rating according to the Bank’s Loan Policy and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Creates narrative analysis reports supported by documentation, makes recommendations and prepares the risk rating portion of the credit authorization.

  • Ensures adequacy and quality of legal documentation and collateral perfection for all commercial loans.

  • Maintains current loan documentation in the loan files, including obtaining current financial information from the borrowers, such as personal and business financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, and bank statements.

  • Participates in the management of the commercial loans portfolio, including credit analysis and annual reviews of new and existing customers.

  • Pulls and reviews credit reports, financial documentation, analyzes the documentation needed for loan reviews and performs risk assessments and profitability analysis for existing relationships.

  • Ensures that the renewals and financial update of the loan files are performed in accordance with Loan Policy and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Reports periodically on the evolution and status of the renewals and financial updates of the loan portfolio.

  • Contributes to the preparation of documents for Loan Committee meetings.

  • Completes periodic BSA/AML, compliance and other mandatory trainings scheduled by management.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with english-speaking partners, members and/or clients
