Job Overview

Assist foster care staff in safely meeting the service needs of clients by providing transportation for children to family visits, therapy sessions, clinical appointments, or group activities.

Essential Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the Transportation Aide of Burlington United Methodist Family Services shall encompass at least the following:

  • Confirm transportation needs prior to leaving for transport duties.
  • Transport clients for family or office visits, therapy sessions, medical appointments, and other assigned trips.
  • Maintain case note log of specific children transported during each trip including mileage and destination points.
  • Submit monthly Medicaid billing for medical and social necessity trips.
  • Record brief description of trip; communicate verbally, and in writing, when necessary, any concerns/significant observations regarding child and/or family.
  • Supervise visits between foster children and his or her birth family.
  • Assist in telephoning family/foster family to arrange or cancel visits and necessary appointments.
  • Provide childcare and group activities for children while parents/foster parents attend parenting classes,
  • Support groups, and other training sessions.
  • Report all vehicle maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all vehicle registration, insurance and inspection forms are in the vehicle by checking them monthly and notifying appropriate personnel if they need updated.
  • Ensure all vehicles are clean and vacuumed monthly.
  • Maintain weekly sign in/out vehicle logs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Can support the mission and vision of Burlington United Methodist Family Services as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supports and facilitates positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems.
  • Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation with regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in appropriate professional development programs and in-services to attain and maintain competency.
  • Required driving position.
      1. This position is defined as one that will require you to drive a motor vehicle as part of your daily work. This position does allow the employee to drive motor vehicles owned or leased by Burlington United Methodist Services, Inc., and to transport employees and residents when and if necessary.
  • Performs other duties that fall within the parameters of this position.

Certifications:

Licenses:

  • Must have a valid state issued driver’s license and submit to an intensive background investigation.
