Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for 4th grade beginning in mid-January 2026 for a maternity leave. This is a self-contained classroom with the following exceptions: music, library, technology, Spanish and physical education are taught by specialist teachers. The candidate will collaborate with staff and parents to ensure that we fulfill our mission of teaching the fullness of the Catholic faith, fostering academic excellence, and nurturing a community of disciples. We are looking for someone with positive energy and who is a team player. The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for teaching and commitment to using innovative teaching methods, integrating real life applications, and uses a variety of teaching and assessment techniques to differentiate instruction.
This candidate must be committed to teaching the faith and providing all students with an equitable and inclusive education in a community that celebrates its diversity. Applicants should be passionate about Catholic education, interested in working as part of an intermediate level team (Grades 3-5), be comfortable using educational technology in your instruction, able to differentiate instruction, and make regular use of formal and informal assessments as an integral part of your curriculum planning and instruction. Candidates need to hold or be working toward a current Washington State teaching certificate endorsed in Elementary Education. Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience. Compensation $25.00 - $28.00 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
Current Washington State teaching certificate (or equivalent)
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES: Engage learners in a positive, nurturing learning environment
Provide daily instruction and plan lessons and units for core content areas that engage student learners through a variety of instructional methods
Understand grade level essential standards and learning objectives and their vertical alignment
Use summative and formative assessments to drive instruction, monitor students' progression, and differentiation
Use technology as a tool to enhance curriculum, collaboration, and creative thinking skills
Participate as energetic, empathetic, and innovative team member
Possess an ability to be flexible and resourceful
Desire to work with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and academic needs
Possess the knowledge and skills to develop positive interpersonal relationships and best practices approach to learning and instruction
Demonstrate good organization and management skills
Collaborate with colleagues including team teaching, professional learning communities, and Response to Intervention process
