Supervises staff and day-to-day activities the First-Class hospitality Lounge for Lufthansa, supporting the team in ensuring a warm, efficient and personalized guest experience in the Lounge for every passenger.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports management in the overall smooth operation of Lounge activities and services, especially as required to exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in customer satisfaction rating, labor costs, food costs and staff turnover rate. Ensures Manager is informed of all events and activities impacting KPI’s and all other appearances and operational requirements.
• Controls the facility in order to enforce and exceed hygiene standards (HACCP).
• Controls quality of food, including taste and visual presentation.
• Performs inventory management on all service items in the lounge with the goal of preventing waste and excessive costs.
• Maintains communication with the kitchen to ensure on time and quality food deliveries and high service levels, functioning of equipment and supply levels in order to enable quick responses to guests, required repairs to limit down-time of equipment, etc.
• Ensures Lounge staff are constantly presenting a professional appearance, and are attentive to appearance and cleanliness of items on display and of orders being served from the kitchen.
• Maintains constant communication with LH Lounge reception for status and current needs/requirements related to flight changes/delays/cancellations or other airline/guest issue or crisis that may arise.
• Orders all items necessary for lounge stability and monitors requirements and inventory levels to ensure the high quality standards are met, investigating every instance of food, beverage or service quality within the Lounge while responding to all hints of possible issues from the staff, guests or airline clients.
• Monitors, maintains and ensures all safety standards are consistent and maintained.
• Oversee activities and performance of cleaning and maintenance staff within the Lounge, ensuring every concern and issue is dealt with swiftly.
• Ensures manager is informed of issues and events in the Lounge and kitchen.
• Supports efforts and manages activities of the Lounge to ensure sales targets are achieved, control inventories are recorded, and provision of information and data required in order to clarify differences when necessary.
• Cooperates with health inspectors during visits and ensures all activities and requirements of NYC are in place and maintained throughout day-to-day operations.
• Maintains all written documentation, schedules, communications and other corporate administrative matters related to Lounge operations.
• Ensures adherence to the law, provisions, corporate policies and procedures, and HACCP guidelines.
• Performs special projects and other duties as may be assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Education:   High school or equivalent. Community college, trade school or other would be an advantage

Work Experience:  
• At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the hospitality industry, with at least two (2) of those years in a team leadership or supervisory capacity
• Experience in the first-class hospitality industry and providing VIP Service.

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)
• Food Protection Certification from NYC and other necessary certifications as required in supervisory capacity and as primary contact for health inspectors

Job Skills:
• Strong leadership experience and abilities
• Thorough knowledge of HACCP rules and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of MS-Office
• Established administrative skills as related to inventory management, ordering, billing, invoice management, shift scheduling and providing written and verbal communications to team on training, planning, briefing staff on events and high priority VIP’s and leading fast turn-around of the facility.
• A very strong customer focus, and the ability to handle sensitive matters and difficult customers effectively.
• Consistently presents a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and demonstrate effective disposition of all matters.
• Ability to work shifts and plan for coverage in support of smooth service and operations during all open hours of the Lounge.

Language / Communication Skills: 
• Fluent written and spoken English language knowledge and skills is required, fluent written and spoken German is highly desirable. Another language would be an advantage.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy and problem-solving skills, as well as effective teamwork
