Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes in support of analytics and audience engagement initiatives
- Contribute to the development and optimization of data models and warehouse structures for reporting and analysis
- Work with tools and technologies including Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Spark, and Airflow
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Data Product Managers, and Analysts to understand requirements and deliver reliable data solutions
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure quality and maintainability of data solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues to ensure performance and reliability
- Support data governance and data quality initiatives through documentation and validation
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role working with large-scale data systems
- Proficient in SQL for data extraction and transformation
- Experience with one or more distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hive, Presto)
- Solid programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java
- Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
- Exposure to data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar
- Understanding of basic data modeling principles and warehouse design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and adapting to changing priorities
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
