Essential Functions:

The primary functions of the Project Manager are to assist Superintendents/Division Managers in bidding, scheduling, forecasting, reporting and contract implementation. Project Manager will help ensure timely submission of bids and meeting all customer’s reporting requirements. The PM will help ensure that Division Manager and General Foreman understand The Company’s reporting and purchasing requirements and will see that The Company stays in 100% compliance with Company reporting requirements. The PM will assist Division Mangers on equipment needs, budgeting, and equipment and tools logistics. GM will be required to participate in weekly calls with Superintendents/Division Managers, General Foreman, VP of Ops and President of The Company. The position reports to the President of The Company and may require travel and relocation from time-to-time.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and help manage key staff positions so as to ensure the proper utilization of assigned project personnel.
- Will help guide Superintendents/Division Managers and General Foreman on project weekly completion and P&L.
- Establish industry group objectives and performance standards as defined by the Company’s operating policies and procedures, and as defined for individual projects during the formal project turnover process.
- Provide meaningful input into the development of the project schedule and any subsequent updates.
- Whenever appropriate, participate in the development of all project schedules, budgets, and other project related reports. Review and approve all final documents to further ensure their accuracy and that any required updates are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are available for projects when needed.
- Provide effective interface with other project personnel while protecting the Company’s interests at all times.
- Follow a “Best Practices” philosophy by being pro-active in making creative, timely and meaningful suggestions as to how best to perform the work so as to maximize cost and schedule efficiencies.
- Assist, as necessary, with any labor relation issues, if any, in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
- Continually monitor the safety performance of the group’s projects to ensure compliance with all Company safety policies and procedures. Take immediate corrective action, whenever necessary, so as to protect employees and Company safety performance goals and initiatives.
- Actively support and participate in, as necessary, group estimating and any business development activities to help achieve pre-determined growth goals.
- Play a key role in promoting the importance of client satisfaction and its relationship to the Company’s reputation and its ability to obtain new and repeat business.
- When appropriate, assume a leadership role in industry and other business-related organizations.
- Review and approve purchase receipts.
- Determine the proper type and use of Company-owned and rented equipment. Coordinate field repairs as necessary.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly estimates and provide input relative to any pending change order requests.
- Maintain a positive liaison with other project related personnel and Company departments as a means of pro-actively supporting all project activities.
- Understand and support all Company policies and procedures as well as any project-related strategic planning initiatives.
- Develop and update a Yearly Group Plan to include financial forecasts, project results to date, new work opportunities, workforce needs, and possible expansion opportunities. The Plan shall support the Company’s financial, strategic planning and business development goals.
- Seek out and participate in leadership development skill programs to further enhance individual effectiveness, achievements and outcomes.
- PM will host a weekly call with Managers to review the previous week’s safety and P&L. GM will make notes of each crew’s performance and provide to President and VP of Operations weekly.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned by the President of The Company.
Success Factors:
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a schedule-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to be a team leader with strong interpersonal and site management skills is a must
- Working knowledge of computers and applicable programs
- A record of success in the management of large, complex and difficult multi-million dollar construction projects in the Electrical/Utility industry is required.
- A demonstrated ability to be a team leader with strong interpersonal and site management skills is a must as well as a working knowledge of computers and applicable computer programs.
- A demonstrated knowledge of construction means/methods, finance, and management policies and procedures as well as the utilization of innovative and effective communication, interpersonal and leadership techniques in order to maximize employee and project efficiencies.
- Being able to multi-task and work in a schedule-driven environment a must.
- Relocation/travel will be a prerequisite.
Experience and Education:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- A Four (4) year engineering degree or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum of Ten (10) years project construction experience in related field
- Must have 3 years’ experience as a Foreman
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License is required.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
