About the Department
Position Duties
- Review reports and monitor case files.
- Assign cases.
- Provide direction and assistance as needed.
- Answer any inquiries from the public.
- Conduct drug-related criminal investigations by interviewing victims and witnesses, interrogating suspects, and following up on leads.
- Initiate and coordinate interviews of witnesses and victims.
- Obtain and serve criminal warrants when appropriate.
- Arrest and book suspected criminals.
- Assist the CNT Assistant District Attorneys in preparing cases.
- Testify in judicial proceedings when necessary.
- Document investigation through completion of appropriate paperwork.
- Exchange information with other law enforcement personnel and outside agencies.
- Conduct studies of past criminal activities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
- Must be Georgia POST certified as a Peace Officer in good standing or be able to complete the Equivalency of Training (EOT) program for officers certified in other states.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must complete and pass a drug screen, background investigation, and physical and psychological exams with a medical professional.
Other Qualifications
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug testing.
