JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide emergency assessment of illness or injury and provide medical care for Forest Home guests and staff in a friendly and comprehensive manner within the scope and practice of professional license and within Forest Home First Aid Protocols. 

 

JOB STATUS: Seasonal Contractor-  Weekends January to March

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assists in supervising First Aid Health Techs at all camp centers while providing guidance and mentorship
  • Responsible for detailed charting of all medical care provided in EMR
  • Provides emergency medical assessment and care within the Forest Home First Aid Protocols
  • Assists Nurse Manager in all areas as needed 
  • Assumes the role and responsibility as acting lead of the First Aid Team if Nurse Manager and First Aid Lead are offsite
  • Administers medications (Rx and OTC) based on physician’s orders and/or First Aid Protocols
  • Refers patients to local medical facilities as needed and interacts with local EMS agencies in professional manner when necessary
  • Communicates with parents/guardians of minors and/or church leaders when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Active license for current profession - RN, MD/DO, NP, PA (Current CA license)

 EMT-P (National Registry, CA State Card, OR CA County Card)

  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • 2 years experience in current profession
  • Currently employed/practicing within the last 1 year
  • Ability to perform emergency assessments and comfortable making emergency medical decisions
  • Excellent triage skills
  • A heart for teaching and mentorship to lead the Health Techs on First Aid Team

 

PREFERRED:

  • Current AHA ACLS and PALS Certification
  • Critical Care and/or Pre-hospital experience
