What You’ll Do

Every day brings something new. You might:

  • Help couples obtain and register marriage licenses
  • Assist families with birth and death certificates
  • Support property owners in recording or obtaining official records
  • Participate in voter registration, candidate filing, and election support
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service both in person and over the phone
  • Juggle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Depending on experience, you could play a key role in both Clerk-Recorder and Elections functions.

Position Duties

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Energized by serving the public and making a difference
  • Skilled at multitasking and staying calm under pressure
  • A clear and courteous communicator
  • Adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with a “can-do” attitude
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus!

Education and Experience

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:  


Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. certificate at the time of employment.


Either A: One year of experience performing duties comparable to an Administrative Assistant II. 

Or B: Three years of experience performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative assistant duties including word-processing/computer experience. Possession of either a Certificate of Proficiency in secretarial, clerical, or library studies or possession of a paralegal certificate from an accredited institution will substitute for up to one year of general clerical experience.


Licenses and Certificates

Certain positions within this classification may require driving. When driving is an essential function of the position, a valid CALIFORNIA driver's license will be required at the time of appointment.
