Job Description Summary:
The Mobile Mental Health Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapeutic services in a mobile clinic setting. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to individuals and families in underserved and rural areas, with a focus on early intervention and evidence-based practices. The therapist will provide services in a mobile unit equipped for individual, group, and family therapy, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and will utilize telehealth and mobile documentation tools. This position will provide services to both children and adults.
The therapist must demonstrate a welcoming, empathic, and hopeful attitude, and convey a philosophy of dual recovery. They must be trained and/or experienced in working with mental illness and/or substance use disorders and understand the impact of trauma on development and functioning. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting individuals where they are—both physically and emotionally. The therapist reports to the Clinical Director and collaborates closely with psychiatrists, peers, nurses, and other mobile unit staff.
Education:
Master’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate preferred but not required.
Full licensure preferred; provisional licensure accepted.
Experience in mobile or community-based behavioral health settings is desirable.
Responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, marital, and family counseling in a mobile setting.
Deliver PCIT and other evidence-based interventions in a mobile clinic environment.
Conduct intake interviews, identify presenting problems, and develop preliminary treatment plans.
Provide crisis intervention services during regular mobile clinic operations.
Utilize telehealth platforms and mobile documentation systems.
Collaborate with community partners, schools, and healthcare coalitions to identify service locations and client needs.
Participate in outreach and engagement efforts to increase access to care.
Support care coordination and referrals to internal and external services.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and case reviews.
Maintain compliance with documentation, ethical standards, and trauma-informed care principles.
May supervise unlicensed therapists or interns if licensed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a mobile clinic environment, including travel to rural and underserved areas.
Prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity to operate mobile clinic equipment and technology.
Must be able to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
