Job Description Summary
The Director of Laboratory Operations, Florence Division, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ICCE reports to the System Administrator of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ICCE and the Chief Operating Officer of the Florence Medical Center. Under limited supervision, the Director of Laboratory Operations, Florence Division is responsible for general operational and quality oversight for the Florence Division labs; and providing the day to day operational, financial and strategic lab leadership for the Florence Medical Center Lab with specific oversight of Florence Lab Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Quality and Lab IS; and. Direct reports include Manager of Florence Lab, Manager of Marion Lab, and Manager of Black River Lab.This collaborative role directs the delivery of services ensuring a seamless integration with service line initiatives, performance improvement measures, strategic, business, and organizational goals/objectives. The Director of Laboratory Operations plays a vital role in the accreditation process and works closely with the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ICCE leadership to assure department compliance with established standards of performance. This position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and programs to increase operational and financial efficiency and effectiveness.
Florence based position with 20-40% travel required

Additional Job Description
A masters’ degree in business or hospital administration or a closely related field, and five to seven (5-7) years’ experience in hospital laboratory administration or related healthcare experience, of which at least three (3) years were in a management capacity. Position requires extensive knowledge of management and leadership principles, budgeting methods and services related to area of responsibility. Demonstrates knowledge and enforcement activities for the MUSC Hospital Compliance and Accreditation Program. Demonstrates knowledge of ADA regulations. Demonstrates working knowledge of FDA, CAP, DOT, FAA, DHEC and CLIA certification standards.
