Novato Unified School District (NUSD) has approximately 800 staff members who, along with the larger school community, are responsible for the education of 7,400 students. We have eight elementary schools, including one dual-language immersion, one TK-8 school, two middle schools, and two comprehensive high schools. NUSD also has an Alternative Education Center housing a continuation school and an independent study student program serving grades K-12. All schools within Novato Unified offer special education services, along with Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), and special assistance is provided for all English learner students.

Job Summary
Novato Unified School District is excited to find an academically bilingual educator with a Spanish background to teach the Adult Education GED program. The ideal applicant would be coming to us with a preliminary or clear California Credential in Multiple Subjects or English, with a BILA/BCLAD credential in Spanish. NUSD welcomes aspiring educators in the process of obtaining appropriate credentialing that would qualify for emergency permits, to apply as well.
Novato is a suburb located in north Marin County, with a population of approximately 53,000. We are a close-knit community, with a number of our population being lifelong citizens. Many of our NUSD parents attended Novato schools themselves. Our community is known for its more than 3,600 acres of open space, which include a number of popular hiking and biking trails. Experience teaching adult learners or working in adult education settings.
Strong knowledge of GED content areas and instructional strategies.
New NUSD certificated staff may transfer in up to 15 years' experience, allowing for placement on Step 16 - teaching experience subject to verification of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid California teaching credential or Adult Education credential.
- Experience with culturally responsive teaching and trauma-informed practices.
