Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Job Summary:
The Manager of Community Services plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates community, volunteer, and corporate programming activities to positively engage the public to organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation, with an emphasis on increasing donor rates within Lifebanc’s 20-county service area. The position also develops a culture of donation and maintains a public image for Lifebanc.
Essential Functions:
· Develops and coordinates educational activities to build community understanding of Lifebanc, the organ donation and transplantation industry, the organ, eye, and tissue donation process, transplantation, and research opportunities.
· Works with the Manager of Marketing to develop and execute strategic community outreach marketing programs to increase organ and tissue donation in target communities.
· Conducts research to develop a relationship target list for Lifebanc’s DSA including community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, healthcare associations, school-based organizations, government officials, and others.
· Plans, coordinates, and attends meetings, cultural programs, and events in assigned territory to promote organ and tissue donation in target communities.
· Identifies and cultivates new relationships with local businesses, organizations, associations, faith-based organizations, school-based organizations, and community groups to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
· Builds relationships with community leaders and government officials in DSA to increase their involvement and advocacy around organ and tissue donation.
· Supports the preparation of written drafts and assists in the development of event invitations, flyers, programs, webinars, social media posts, email marketing, press materials, speaking engagements, and other items as needed.
· Manages department annual budget and event budgets throughout the year.
· Responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and recruitment of the volunteer program. Supports the recruitment and training of new Lifebanc Ambassadors.
· Prepares materials for volunteer outreach, onboarding, and training.
· Coordinates the schedule of volunteers in DSA to ensure coverage of community outreach events; Provides on-site support as needed and required per requests.
· Maintains and updates records within volunteer management software.
· Collaborates with internal Lifebanc Departments.
· Assists with the development of key performance indicators to be used for community outreach program performance monitoring and evaluation.
· Assist hospital services staff with educational development and presentations for referring hospitals and/or community groups.
· Collaborate with bereavement staff to develop relationships with donor families and recipients for volunteer opportunities and inclusion in Lifebanc communications.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· Associates degree in business, social work, non-profit management, or related experience.
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience in community relations working with community-based organizations, healthcare agencies, school-based organizations, volunteers, and civic and faith leaders.
· Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Knowledge of and skill in using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in written materials.
· Ability to speak and communicate effectively to small and large groups.
· General knowledge of social media programs; Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn preferred.
· Ability to create & implement a community programming plan.
· Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, organize and prioritize resources, ideas, situations, and people.
· Ability to identify, develop and maintain effective community/business relationships.
· Ability to travel as needed; position is hybrid (70% off-site, 30% in-office).
· Current valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift 30 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time.
