Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Three vibrant, pedestrian-friendly village areas host lodging, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and family activities. During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility.
Volunteer Title: Medical Ski Patrol Volunteer
Volunteer Summary:
Assists the ski patrol in providing for and ensuring a reasonable skiing environment. Is available to aid injured or sick guests at Copper Mountain. Provides support to the ski patrol in various duty station responsibilities, skier safety, trail checks, and other assigned duties. All tasks require a developing level of decision making and excellent people skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Medical assessment and treatment- all MVP staff will need a minimum of and ACLS certified and trained to respond to different scenarios, both on the mountain and in the duty stations.

Reporting/Documentation - Preservation of the facts, forms, and records.All staff will be familiar with (and held accountable for) the complete documentation of a given incident, which might include standard reporting, witness statements, diagrams, etc.
Reasonable Skiing Environment - Trail checks, trail openings/closings, light obstacle marking, signage, sweeps, and special event assistance.
Search and Rescue - Assists Reporting Parties in the location of lost/separated friends or family.Initiates computer and/or paper documentation.
Lift Evacuation - Medical assistance to evacuated guests who are injured or cold and the disbursement of lift coupons where appropriate.
Skier Education - Enforces the Skier Safety Act; e.g., fast and/or reckless skiing, closure violations, etc.MVP staff maintain visibility to the public on the hill for skier information.
Training/Development - All staff will demonstrate developing proficiency, in all areas of being and MVP.This constant and ongoing process includes maintaining medical certifications.MVP’s assist with training of patrollers (formal and informal, clinical and classroom.)Ski and snowboard improvement in all terrain with varying snow conditions is always encouraged.
Computers - Accident records and lost/separated person data input.
Develops integration with other Copper Mountain departments for more effective functioning within the company.

Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.Upholds the most professional image.Continually strives to exceed our guest’s expectations and create memories for our guests and staff.

Basic Requirements:
Skiing in variable snow conditions, working in cold, inclement weather at high elevations.Possibly carrying and transporting unwieldy materials and equipment, etc.Must be latex- tolerant.
Must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate effectively using radios and telephones, and hear guests requesting assistance.
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be presently employed in the medical field.
Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Preferred Experience and Special Skills:
Minimum -- nursing, paramedic, physician's assistant, or physician certification.Graduate of an accredited health care institution.

Strong advanced alpine, telemark, or snowboard skills.
