Additional Information: Show/Hide Position Information: The High School Math Tutor provides targeted academic support to students in grades 8–12 to strengthen mathematical understanding, improve course performance, and build confidence in problem-solving. This position supports students who have received core math instruction from a licensed math teacher. Tutors will reinforce core concepts, assisting with assignments, and preparing students for assessments in alignment with the high school math curriculum and state standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide Individualized Support – Deliver tutoring sessions focused on specific math skills, coursework, or concepts aligned with Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, etc
Reinforce Classroom Instruction – Collaborate with math teachers to align tutoring sessions with current classroom topics and learning objectives.
Assess Student Understanding – Use informal assessments, observations, and student feedback to identify areas of strength and need.
Promote Mathematical Thinking – Encourage students to develop problem-solving strategies, logical reasoning, and conceptual understanding rather than rote procedures.
Support Academic Habits – Help students build effective study routines, organizational skills, and test preparation strategies.
Monitor and Document Progress – Maintain accurate records of attendance, student goals, and growth over time.
Foster a Positive Learning Environment – Create a supportive, respectful, and encouraging atmosphere that promotes persistence and confidence in learning math.
Pay Information:
Rate of Pay: $31.50/hour
Hours: 160 hours before 12/31/25; Schedule established upon hire
November 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025
Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency in high school-level mathematics
Prior tutoring or teaching experience strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build rapport with diverse learners and maintain confidentiality
