Description:
The Minor League Outfield Coordinator is responsible for coaching outfield defense and baserunning, implementing the A’s player development philosophy, and providing instruction and mentorship to players and coaches. Key responsibilities involve working with player development staff to create and implement individualized player plans, utilizing data and technology to analyze performance, and assisting with daily practice planning and in-game management. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction on outfield defense and baserunning to minor league players.
  • Assist and guide affiliate coaches in implementing the organization's overall player development philosophy and programs.
  • Collaborate with analytics and performance science departments to integrate data and technology into training, evaluate player performance, and create development plans.
  • Help develop daily practice plans, schedules, and lineups, and assist with in-game management when needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High degree baseball experience as a coach and/or player, preferably as a coach at the minor league or college level.
  • Strong understanding of outfield defense, baserunning, and modern baseball analytics and technology. 
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex information and provide constructive feedback to both players and coaches. 
  • Ability to adapt to various player needs and work collaboratively with other departments like strength and conditioning and video operations. 
  • Experience in implementing and overseeing baseball philosophies and programs.
  • A deep passion for player development, a growth mindset, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to work at one of the Athletics’ minor league affiliates for the minor league season at one of the following affiliates (Las Vegas, NV; Midland,TX; Lansing, MI; Stockton, CA; Mesa, AZ).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in on-field practices and games for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds (bats, balls, and training equipment) often in variable weather conditions.
  • Adequate mobility and physical stamina to engage in field activities and accompany players during practices and games.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with players from diverse backgrounds and cultures is preferred.
