- Observe feeding and folding of material and gluing edges and inform gluer operator of any issues being experienced on the feeding or packing ends.
- Work with the Gluer Operator to monitor the feeding of product into the gluer machinery.
- Coordinate with the Gluer Operator to ensure correct jobs are staged at the front of the machine.
- Demonstrates teamwork and motivation on intensive and easier packing jobs.
- Must match all collating marks that are being packed and pack all cards in the same direction.
- Understands the line stop procedures.
- Familiarizes self with the items being packed.
- Organize and sort products according to size, color, or other specifications.
- During ‘Setup’ Operation: Takes direction from Gluer Operator and Gluer Level II to de-stage last job by returning any unnecessary packing supplies, empty trash, and begin staging the next job by gathering needed packaging supplies.
- During ‘Run’ Operation: Takes direction from Gluer Operator to check for correct card, count, carton, side, direction and quality.
- Assist with the routine maintenance tasks of cleaning and lubricating the glue machinery with the gluer operator.
- When needed, assist the duties of the packers on the line to ensure they are keeping up and paying close attention to the quality of the products.
- During any “down time” the Gluer Packer is working with the Gluer Operator, and material handler to ensure product is moved and area is staged.
- Observe when the Gluer Operator makes adjustments to the machine components according to requirements such as widths, lengths, and thickness of materials and amounts of glue.
- Understands all folder/gluer line metrics and goals.
- Completes daily end of shift duties as assigned by the Gluer Operator position.
- Ability to transition as an individual packer without relying on a trainer.
- Correctly uses required safety PPE: steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
