Position Overview

MIKEL is seeking former or transitioning U.S. Navy Fire Control Technicians (E-5 and above) with experience operating and maintaining submarine combat systems to join our growing technical teams. We have multiple openings across Systems Engineering, Test & Evaluation, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and Configuration Management (CM) supporting NUWCDIVNPT Code 25 Combat Systems projects.

These positions require on-site support within secure government facilities—remote work is minimal. Candidates should be comfortable working in classified environments alongside NUWC engineers and Fleet representatives. Travel is limited, generally for testing events, program reviews, or installation support.

This is an exceptional opportunity to translate hands-on Fleet experience into a high-impact civilian career supporting next-generation Navy systems.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the role and team, responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting system engineering efforts, including system architecture analysis, requirements traceability, and interface documentation.
  • Participating in test and evaluation events for submarine combat systems, including software validation, system integration, and hardware checkout.
  • Providing logistics and lifecycle support—provisioning data, maintenance planning, and technical documentation (RRM & IETM) updates.
  • Assisting in configuration management of combat system baselines, including software builds, documentation control, and change tracking.
  • Collaborating with NUWC engineers, Fleet operators, and OEM partners to ensure system readiness and fleet alignment.
  • Supporting program deliverables and contributing to CDRLs, reviews, and data calls.

Qualifications

  • Former or current U.S. Navy Fire Control Technician (Submarine), E-5 or above.
  • Experience with AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System or related submarine systems.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance documentation, system testing, or configuration processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in collaborative technical teams.
  • Secret clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a clearance required.

Preferred Experience (by Role)

  • Systems Engineering: Requirements analysis, system integration, and interface control.
  • Test & Evaluation: Conducting software validation, hardware integration, and operational test events.
  • Integrated Logistics Support: Provisioning, supply support, documentation, and training support development.
  • Configuration Management: Managing baselines, documentation control, and software/hardware change tracking.
