About the Department
This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas. Responsibilities may include cleaning assigned areas; setting up for events; and/or training new staff.  NOTE: Employees in this position will work the midnight shift.
STARTING SALARY: $40,054 per year
**Position will typically hire at minimum pay and follow a step progression to maximum**

Position Duties
(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Cleans assigned areas, including: waxing floors; vacuuming floors; washing windows; emptying trash; and cleaning restrooms.
- Sets up chairs, tables, and stages for events.
- Trains and/or monitors staff to ensure proper completion of work.
- Orders equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Applicable tools and equipment;
- Basic cleaning techniques;
- Applicable cleaning chemicals;
- Safe work practices;
- Methods of training staff;
- Supply and equipment ordering.
SKILLS:
- Cleaning work areas;
- Setting up for events;
- Training staff;
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, vibration, dusts, gases, and chemicals.
Other Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION, LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid State of Michigan Driver's License
