Position Summary: 

The Product Development Engineer will lead the design, development and testing of innovative, high-quality finishing solutions in the digital printing and label industries. This will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales & Marketing to effectively deliver high-quality products from concept to production. 

Responsibilities:

• Product Design & Development:
  • Conceptualize, design, and prototype finishing equipment for digital printing and label applications.
  • Develop detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards.
• Project Management:
  • Lead product development projects, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve project milestones.
• Testing & Validation:
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate product performance and durability.
  • Analyze test results and iterate designs to meet quality and regulatory requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure seamless production integration.
  • Work with marketing and sales teams to translate customer requirements into product features.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation based on market trends and customer feedback.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and materials in the digital printing and label industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of digital printing technology, finishing equipment, and label manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with product development methodologies (Agile, Stage-Gate, etc.) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
• Leadership & Communication Skills
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and mentoring product development teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on problem-solving and results.
• Customer Focus
  • Deep understanding of customer needs and industry pain points, with a passion for delivering exceptional product solutions.
  • Experience engaging directly with customers to gather insights and validate product concepts.

• Software/computer programs used:
  1. Proficiency in CAD software
  2. Proficiency in ERP software, Epicor/Kinetic a plus

 Education, Experience and Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years in product development, ideally within the digital printing or label industry.
