G MASS Consulting are partnering with a leading financial services firm as they establish a new payments function and progress toward acquiring a payments licence. As part of this strategic initiative, our client is seeking an experienced Programme Lead to oversee and drive delivery across this high-profile transformation.
This is a senior opportunity to join at the inception of a major build-out, providing programme leadership, structure, and oversight across a complex and fast-evolving environment. You will work closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams to shape delivery, ensure regulatory readiness, and maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the payments transformation programme, ensuring delivery against key milestones and regulatory commitments.
- Establish, run and maintain robust programme governance, including steering committees, working groups, and reporting frameworks.
- Drive alignment across multiple workstreams, ensuring dependencies are managed and delivery is cohesive across technology, operations, risk and compliance.
- Oversee programme planning, milestone tracking, RAID management, and reporting to maintain control and transparency.
- Lead change management across scope, timelines and resources, ensuring structured decision-making and accountability.
- Identify, assess and mitigate delivery risks through proactive engagement and strong stakeholder management.
- Provide clear, data-driven insights and reporting to senior stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
- Ensure delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall or hybrid) are applied appropriately and consistently across workstreams.
- Act as a key point of coordination between regulatory, operational and technology teams to maintain momentum and control.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership and delivery excellence across all programme participants.
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading large-scale change or transformation programmes within financial services.
- Strong background in institutional payments - ideally including cross-border and payment processing environments.
- Sound understanding of payments regulation and licensing (e.g. PSD2, FCA, EMI frameworks).
- Demonstrated ability to drive structure, governance and delivery across complex, multi-stakeholder programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to operate at senior leadership level.
- Highly organised, proactive and delivery-focused, comfortable working in fast-paced and evolving settings.
Benefits
Initial 6-month contract, with expecation to be extended or to be made perm.
