Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Director to join our faith-based childcare center in Ocoee, FL. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of proven leadership experience in early childhood education, childcare management, or a related setting. This individual will help oversee daily operations, support staff supervision and development, maintain compliance with DCF and licensing standards, and uphold our mission of nurturing children in a safe, loving, and spiritually grounded environment.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Assist the Director in daily operations of the daycare, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Support the development and implementation of age-appropriate, faith-based curriculum.
- Manage scheduling, classroom assignments, and staff coverage.
- Ensure compliance with DCF regulations, health and safety standards, and internal policies.
- Staff & Program Development
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to teaching and support staff.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating staff performance.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and faith-driven workplace culture.
- Family & Community Engagement
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
- Assist in organizing family events, community partnerships, and faith-based outreach activities.
- Serve as a representative of the center’s mission and values in all interactions.
Administrative Support
- Assist with budgeting, enrollment management, and recordkeeping.
- Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and support accreditation or inspection processes.
- Manage substitute coverage, supply ordering, and other operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or administrative experience in early childhood education, childcare, or preschool setting.
- Director’s Credential (Florida DCF) or equivalent credential required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of DCF regulations and childcare licensing standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a faith-based, nurturing environment for children and staff.
