School Crossing Guard Reports to: Transportation Coordinator and Director of Transportation Work Schedule: Part-time, typically before and after school hours Job Summary: The School Crossing Guard ensures the safe crossing of students, parents, and other pedestrians at designated school crossing locations. The guard monitors traffic, assists pedestrians in safely crossing streets, and promotes compliance with traffic laws and school zone safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist students and pedestrians in safely crossing streets at assigned locations before and after school. Stop vehicular traffic using a hand-held stop sign or signal to allow safe pedestrian crossing. Remain alert and observant to traffic conditions, weather, and potential hazards. Arrive on time and remain at the post for the assigned shift duration. Communicate effectively and courteously with students, parents, and the public. Follow established procedures and guidelines for traffic and pedestrian control. Wear designated safety gear (reflective vest, uniform, whistle, etc.) at all times while on duty.
