TITLE: CIO - Chief Information Officer - Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or related field and/or a minimum of five (5) years experience in managing information technology and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the area of supervision.
- Administration and communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Possesses a proper understanding of all guidelines and requirements of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).
REPORTS TO: School Business Administrator
SUPERVISES: Technology and Information Systems Staff
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership, direction and expertise to planning and implementation of all Information Technology functions in the District; Determines the District’s long-term technology needs to accomplish business objectives
- Works with instructional and technical teams to meet strategic goals and develops a budget that takes into account the total cost of implementing technical solutions
- Directs and ensures the implementation of all tasks related to technical infrastructure, including the selection, purchasing, installation, and maintenance of IT and the integration of technology into instruction and administrative functions
- Oversees the establishment and maintenance of systems and tools for gathering, integrating, and reporting data in usable and meaningful ways
- Directs and coordinates the use of email, District websites, voice mail systems and other forms of communication technology to facilitate decision-making, dialogue, and effective communication with the community and other key stakeholders
- Serves as the leader responsible for guiding purchasing decisions, assists in determining the return on investment for all technology implementation and fosters good relationships with vendors, potential funders and other key groups
- Creates and supports cross-functional teams for decision-making, professional development/technology training, and other aspects of the District’s technology program
- Interviews and recommends candidates for administrative positions in the Information Technology
- Provide leadership in the selection, design, implementation, integration, and ongoing support for all information systems throughout the District.
- Provide leadership and planning to enhance and support data, voice, and network infrastructures and services.
- Provide leadership to enhance access to, and security for, all networked resources and information systems.
- Provide leadership to procure, maintain and enhance access to all security camera systems
- Provide leadership and support for the development of technology to support instructional needs, including media, libraries, and distance education.
- Develop internal Information Technology (IT) policies and procedures designed to improve work procedures and service quality.
- Review IT staff skills and develop appropriate training plans.
- Develop and monitor technology budgets and project budgets.
- Provide leadership for competitive technology procurements, vendor negotiations, and vendor partnerships.
- Ensure that the implementation of technology will occur in an integrated manner designed for the benefit of both academic and administrative purposes.
- Prepare state reports on district technology and distance learning programs and grants.
- Serve on state, regional, and national technology committees and forums.
- Develop both short and long range technology plans.
- Expert data management including: Collection, integration, validity, distribution, and interpretation of all District data.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) months; non-tenurable.
Evaluated by the School Business Administrator consistent with statute, code and collective negotiations agreement.
Compensation and benefits as established by the Administrator’s collective negotiations agreement.
