ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Quad Cities seeks a Housing Assistant to support the housing team as they secure housing for newly arriving refugees. By working closely with the Housing Manager, this position will support the common goal of welcoming refugees and supporting their long-term integration through performing essential tasks related to housing.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until March 31, 2026, and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Thoroughly check all properties and document any issues or maintenance concerns.
Pick up leases and keys for new properties and make copies of keys.
Pull household items for new arrivals and purchases additional items as needed.
Assist with the creation and upkeep of home files for new arrivals.
Conduct seasonal home checks and training.
Determine if PM/LL maintenance should be called and then communicate with PM/LL about maintenance issues as needed.
Complete 30 day home checks.
Send 30 day notices.
Complete initial and final walk through of homes, document any damages and take pictures.
Arrange for donation pick ups.
Organize and document all donations.
Other related tasks as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Mature and personal Christian faith
Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass the background check and MVR
Ability to work on some evenings or weekends, occasionally evening or weekend work may be needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Preference given to applicants who are bilingual and speak a language that is spoken by a major refugee group in the QC (Swahili, Karen, French, Spanish, Arabic)
Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
Good time management and multi-tasking skills
1-2 years of housing set up experience
