Description

Our Hospice Support Specialists provide end-of-life care at the Hospice Home of Johnson County, also known as The Bird House. The Bird House is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care by focusing on the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of our guests and their loved ones in a peaceful, home-like environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide companionship, personal cares (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting), medication management, meal preparation, housekeeping/laundry assistance, positioning, transferring, and feeding as appropriate
  • Assist with care at the time of dying and death
  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for guests by observing infection control practices, following CHAM guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Administration/ Supervisor
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports, written reports, and participation in staff meetings, as requested
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with all aspects of the position
  • Documents care provided and pertinent observations daily

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Previous caregiver experience is required; end-of-life care experience is preferred.
  • Experience working independently
  • Must be able to work every other weekend
  • Must be able to pass multiple background checks
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts
