Perform routing preventive and emergency maintenance in the area of utilities to include a broad range of wall, floor, ceiling, masonry, specialty finishes, and improvement duties as part of the Maintenance Services team. Maintenance of hardware and equipment under general supervision in accordance with established priorities and policies. Tasks similar in nature and require moderate use of individual analysis and judgment.
Essential Functions
1. Provide job-site problem solving, layout and technical assistance to expedite task in the area of utilities; plan and arrange own work; refer problems that cannot be solved to supervisor. 2. Perform routine and occasionally complete preventive emergency maintenance in the area of utilities to include repair and installation of typical drywall, plaster and ceramic wall tile systems; acoustical ceiling; composition floor tile, ceramic and other flooring system' paint and specialty finishes and maintenance of required equipment. 3. Read, interpret, and follow all printed instructions by manufacturers and blueprints for proper applications of materials; prepare accurate material lists; perform field layouts. 4. Be responsible for vehicle and vehicle inventory, if assigned, and for materials, tools and equipment, including making adjustments and using safe operating procedures; request scheduling of required maintenance and inspections and keep vehicle, tools, equipment and work areas clean and orderly. 5. Load and unload tools and materials and operate tools, equipment and machinery used in the grounds or maintenance functions. 6. Supervise staff as assigned. 7. Cooperate with other co-workers and routinely report necessary information to the immediate supervisor. 8. Follow established safety practices in accordance with District policies to prevent damage to buildings, utilities and other property. 9. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); five (5) years of verifiable experience in the area of utilities to include a broad range of wall, floor, ceiling and specialty finishes; maintenance of hardware typical to school such as lockers and restroom accessories, masonry, preferred: related technical training preferred. Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions related to environmental services, maintenance and safety procedures. Must possess a valid Texas or New Mexico driver's license; be insurable by the District's auto liability insurance carrier; subject to the YISD drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation. External candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check. Non-Refundable fee (approximately $51.00 ) paid by employee. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently; work under all weather conditions; be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, climbing; heavy lifting and carrying. Ability to climb ladders up to 8 feet unassisted and higher with assistance; exposure to insects; ability to work with pesticides and herbicides or other potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner. May need to work on roof tops or other height areas above the ground. Be adaptable to work a shift schedule /hours other than regularly assigned.
