Job Overview: The Senior Systems Administrator is a key member of the district’s technology team, overseeing systems infrastructure, software deployments, and technical troubleshooting. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, professional, and can utilize expertise and apply knowledge in educational technology and IT operations. The Senior Systems Administrator ensures that technology functions reliably for teaching, learning, and administrative needs across the district. Essential Job Duties and Functions
Technical Support & Help Desk
Provide advanced technical support and assist with escalated issues.
Assist in training and mentoring Technology Staff.
Systems Administration & Device Management
Administer and support user accounts, backups, and district-managed systems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, and network services.
Systems administrator for M365, Google Workspace Jamf and Microsoft Intune; create and implement policies and develop procedures for device and software deployments and maintenance.
Oversee software deployment processes, device imaging, and inventory tracking systems.
Software & Testing Support
Oversee deployment of testing platforms, including PSSA, SAT, BlueBook, WIDA, Respondus, and maintain DRC caching servers.
Oversee filtering systems and firewalls for students and staff.
Network and Systems Administrator
Oversee internal and external systems, including cellular and VOIP phone systems, paging, and camera systems.
Train staff on implementation and ensure systems are maintained and functional.
Assist the Director of IT with network and server administration and troubleshooting.
Knowledge Management & Documentation
Develop and maintain internal documentation and procedures for recurring technical issues.
Update the district’s support knowledge base to provide accessible, accurate help resources for staff and technicians.
Assist in documenting systems and training materials for internal use.
Attend trainings for all systems.
Collaboration, Planning & Procurement Support
Work with the tech team and vendors to manage software and hardware inventory, purchasing, and end-of-life planning.
Stay current with hardware/software trends relevant to K–12 education.
Assist the Senior Director of Technology with technology planning and implementation for summer deployments and refresh cycles.
Collaborate with instructional technology teams to support district digital learning initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience.)
5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, network management or educational technology.
Experience with Windows and Apple operating systems and software packaging/distribution tools.
Strong understanding of K–12 instructional technology needs and support environments.
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a K-12 educational environment.
Familiarity with school information systems (SIS) and learning management systems (LMS).
Must have the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team-oriented environment.
Occasional nighttime and weekend hours required; supporting Board meetings and off-hour high priority technology issues
Must display excellent customer service skills and have strong problem-solving skills.
Must possess great attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to follow-up with customers, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
Proven ability to communicate concisely both in oral and written form.
Must have the ability to use and maintain confidential information and have an awareness of all district requirements and policies.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
Compensation Information:
Salary Range: $70,262.40 - $83,283.20

If you do not need benefits, a paid waiver is provided annually!
A $20,000 life insurance policy provided at no cost to the employee.
Palmyra Area School District will pay the full cost of tuition and any reasonable expenses for courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, or in-service training sessions (up to $1,200/year.)
After five (5) years of service to PASD, a full-time support staff employee is eligible to apply for an adjustment to the mid-point hourly wage applicable for the position PLUS the wage increase for the applicable year.
Employees will have a pension through the Pennsylvania School Employee Retirement System (PSERS.)
Employees are eligible to participate in 403(b) and Roth 403(b) programs.
