About the Role
The Partner Associate Manager for Learning & School Management Systems will be responsible developing and managing digital partnerships which help to grow and shape the IB’s role in the global EdTech ecosystem.
The Partner Manager will be part of the Digital Partnerships team, a cornerstone of the IB’s Digital Blueprint and future vision, with an overarching goal to stimulate and invest in technology partnerships that expand the IB’s impact, reach, and digital offerings.
The team is accountable for maintaining existing digital partnerships with publishers, licensing partners, online course providers, curriculum learning management platforms, and exam preparation services, while also defining the focus and direction for future partnerships.
In addition, the team is responsible for developing new partnerships, including creating business models, negotiating agreements, and managing technical integration. The Digital Partnerships team also manages and optimizes a suite of API licenses—available either at cost or free—to enable sustainable and seamless integration between IB and its partners.
Responsibilities
- Partner Strategy Definition and Execution: Supporting the strategy design for partnering with EdTechs and Learning Management Systems by providing data and market research to enable a portfolio of Learning Management Systems that better meet the needs of the IB’s global student body. Identifying, establishing, and growing best-in-class strategic publishing, licensing and product development partnerships and alliances. Translating partner strategies into actionable plans for execution, and managing the execution and implementation of that strategy with accountability for achieving of results.
- Partnership Development and Management: Management of IB’s partner program for Learning Management Systems; licensing program development and management; API business model and roadmap development; market and competitor analysis; establishing IB profile as an edTech partner; identification of potential partners; negotiation of partnership agreements; ongoing relationship management of partnerships; monitoring and evaluation of partner performance; impact analysis and management of partnership revenue stream.
- Quality Control: Refining and standardising Quality Assurance and review process to ensure alignment of Learning Management Systems to IB’s standards. Developing and executing the strategy for maximising IB control over the quality of third-party Learning Management Systems.
- Ensure positive brand impact: Building and maintaining the IB brand image and fulfilling brand promise through 3rd party products. Building and maintaining positive relationships and effective endorsement processes in the educational technology industry.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Partnering with Product Managers, Business Owners and other functions to drive awareness, sponsorship and influence on new partnership opportunities to fulfil business needs, and partnering with Business Owners in owning the business need for each partnership. Partnering with Legal Teams to ensure that partnership agreements comply with regulatory requirements and company policies, and addressing any legal or compliance issues that may arise.
Qualifications
About You
- Industry knowledge of the K-12 education sector globally and the role and market for the IB as a partner.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of trends, companies, products, technologies and emerging innovations in educational technology.
- Experience within EdTech, Learning Management Systems, Consulting or EdTech focused Private Equity/Venture Capital industries.
- Accomplished in designing, leading and managing partnerships with key decision makers and business development / partner managers by / with EdTech companies, publishers, licensing partners and other start-ups.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed and diverse teams, including product managers, software developers, instructional designers, educators, and administrators.
- Working understanding of the design, management and functioning of APIs with the ability to propose new APIs and develop business models to meet customer needs.
- Base level understanding of software development processes, methodologies and technologies, including Agile project management practices, with focus on Scrum to facilitate product development cycles.
