We're a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in craftsmanship, and we're looking for motivated individuals to join us in creating high-quality solid surface products. If you're skilled in hands-on fabrication and eager to learn specialized techniques, this is your opportunity to grow with a company that values passion and safety.

Position Overview As a Fabrication Technician in our Millwork Division, Nicewood, you'll play a key role in our production team, focusing on the creation and finishing of solid surface materials for construction projects. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll handle fabrication tasks, ensure quality workmanship, and contribute to a safe, efficient workshop environment. We provide training for solid surface-specific skills, so if you have a strong foundation in fabrication or related trades, we'll help you adapt and excel.

Core Competencies To succeed in this role, we're seeking candidates with the following key competencies:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on skills with tools like routers, sanders, saws, and buffers; ability to learn and apply fabrication techniques quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in cutting, assembling, and finishing materials to meet exact specifications, including identifying colors, thicknesses, and patterns.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining a hazard-free workspace, adhering to OSHA standards, and promoting a culture of health and safety.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage inventory, and keep work areas clean and efficient.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Eagerness to assist in various operations, adapt to new methods, and embody our company ethos as a positive ambassador.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to read shop drawings and troubleshoot fabrication challenges independently or collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate parts, including faces, edges, joints, and assemblies, using standard and innovative methods.
  • Safely handle chemicals, glues, adhesives, and materials in line with supplier guidelines and company protocols.
  • Cut, trim, and assemble stock sheets or pre-fabricated items using tools like table saws and miter boxes.
  • Support laminating and other finishing operations as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of solid surface materials, sanding media, buffing supplies, and related items.
  • Ensure a clean, organized work area to uphold efficiency and safety.
  • Foster a safe environment by enforcing OSHA and company safety requirements, preventing injuries, and encouraging compliance among team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall production goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fabrication, woodworking, or a related trade (solid surface experience is a plus but not required—we'll train the right candidate).
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings to guide your work.
  • Proficiency with tools such as laminate routers, sanders, miter saws, and buffers; comfortable replacing tooling and using proper techniques for polishing and finishing.
  • Strong desire to understand, adapt to, and promote David Nice Builders' culture of integrity, relationships, and passion—be our ambassador in every interaction.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced production setting.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and skill development in a supportive environment.
  • Be part of a team that turns construction into art, building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.
