NewsNation seeks a Supervising Producer Research and Content to join the network’s newsgathering team. The role is focused on enhancing the viewer experience by supporting show teams with enhanced editorial information, graphics, and other elements. The Supervising Producer helps ensure that graphics and elements adhere to NewsNation style guidelines and editorial standards. The position is based at the network's headquarters in Chicago.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Works collaboratively with Senior Producer to anticipate show needs based on storylines, special events, special coverage, breaking news, and continuing coverage
• Conducts research and contributes to editorial notes
• Helps field research requests
• Alerts shows when research notes are disseminated
• Creates and maintains a cross-programming graphics rundown usable by all shows
• Works closely with the graphics department to order graphics in Streamline
• Maintains updated bank of evergreen graphics
• Assists in copy editing, fact checking graphics and elements
• Distributes information and explainer graphics to network Social Media Teams + The Hill teams as necessary
• Collaborates across platforms on production projects and responsibilities
• Actively works to simplify and enhance research and content production systems and workflows
• Works on Special Project graphics including elections
• Fills in on senior producing roles on daytime shows as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by network leadership and senior managers
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
• Must have thorough understanding of video production and graphics workflows
• Experience covering politics and government
• Strong news judgement
• Knowledge of current events, able to handle a wide variety of stories and content.
• Balanced, unbiased approach to newsgathering and storytelling.
• Quick decision maker and creative thinker
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency with ENPS
• Flexibility to work different shifts
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
