The Unit Champion is a Registered Nurse with strong knowledge base and clinical experience able to use dynamic leadership abilities to assure high quality care is provided.Required Behaviors:

Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse License
 - One (1.0) full time equivalent (FTE)
 - At least one (1) to two (2) years of progressive experience in area of specialty
 - RNs accepted into the unit champion role will be at the unit leader’s discretion and based on unit needs
 - BLS
 - Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills
 - Self-motivation and accountability
 - Team Orientated
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN
 - Clinical Certification in area of specialty
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Addendum to Registered Nurse Purpose Description and PCS Charge Nurse Role Description
 - Acts as a clinical and supervisory resource
 - Serves as a role model for unit quality initiatives
 - Committed and participates in professional development of self, peers, and unit growth
 - Navigates patient care management and throughput
 - Dedicated to patient satisfaction by improving patient experiences
 - Assures the safety of patient and staff is maintained
 - Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:
 
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
- Other duties as assigned
 
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance.
 - Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently.
 - Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently.
 - Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids and meets OSHA training requirements.
 
Special Demands:
- Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or sometimes verbally or physically abusive patients and families in an attempt to ensure a safe, respectful environment that will support the delivery of care.
 - Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families.
