Designs, develops, implements, and analyzes facility HACCP Food Safety strategy and programs. He/ she will supervise hourly technicians performing both quality and food safety monitoring & documentation. Directs complex lab personnel in performing sampling, testing, and analysis needed to support the HACCP System and Pathogen Management programs. Back up to QA Manager and other QA Supervisors/ Superintendent. Position directs, leads and executes internal, 3rd party, customer and regulatory auditing including sanitation, traceability, monitoring, validations and analysis verifications. Position is accountable and responsible across all shifts for the regulatory compliance, performance, and overarching food safety of all products entering commerce.
Duties/Activities Required by Job
- Lead, direct, mentor, and train a team of hourly QA/HACCP technicians in performing duties to comply with the complex Food Safety program. This will include the HACCP system comprising the HACCP Plan and all attendant pre-requisite, SSOP, and SPS procedures.
- Review, analyze, and assess the data for HACCP/ Food Safety System in order to perform reassessment and validation of the systems and procedures. Create new procedures and forms as needed. Lead the continuous improvement and maintenance of the HACCP/Food Safety programs in order to develop a robust, verifiable, and validated program. Act as the scribe and recorder for the complex HACCP Team. Develop and present the agendas for the scheduled HACCP/Food Safety Meetings to meet audit and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrates a command and use of appropriate regulations and will aid in answering and addressing non-compliance records, MOIs, and other regulatory documents. Supports Quality department goals, fills in as QA Supervisor when necessary. Reviews records and documents to ensure quality of workmanship.
- Supervises and mentors HACCP and Lab Techs to ensure goals are met for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Promote safety, ensure all safety protocols are implemented and maintained.
- Must be able to work night shift, 3:00PM - 12:00AM.
Educations/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Life Science Field (Biology, Microbiology, Pathology, Food Science) and/or 2+ years Regulatory, Auditing, Food Processing Experience in QA, HAACP, Quality Assurance. Advanced HACCP Certifications a plus.
- 1 - 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Basic HACCP Certification, IDV HACCP Training, Process Control training a plus. Strong communication, persuasive, and influential skills.
