Insurity’s NextDatabase Developer
Join our global data development team as a Database Developer, supporting key insurance data and compliance products. This role focuses on delivering smaller-scope development items and bug fixes with minimal supervision, ensuring the performance and reliability of our enterprise data systems. You’ll collaborate with U.S. and India-based teammates to build and enhance solutions that drive a unified data pipeline and warehouse used for analytics, business reporting, and regulatory compliance submissions.
We’re looking for a self-motivated professional with strong database development skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset. Experience with SQL Server 2016–2022 and complex ETL processes between databases is highly desirable, along with proficiency in data transformations, views, and synonyms. The ideal candidate can translate specifications into clean, efficient code and troubleshoot existing logic or data issues effectively. Experience with .NET or modern UI technologies is a plus, as is exposure to data warehousing or regulatory compliance systems. This position offers the opportunity to grow within a highly collaborative team that values ownership, quality, and continuous learning.
What Our Database Developer Will Do
Design and develop database objects (Tables, Indexes, Keys, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, SSIS packages) commensurate with experience
Modify databases according to requests and perform tests
Troubleshoot and resolve bugs issues (data or DB code) and performance issues
Provide data management support to users, including query writing support and tuning expertise
Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
Gather user requirements and implement new features
Write moderately complex SQL code
Work with data transformations, ETL processes, and dependencies across databases and systems
Leverage SQL Server capabilities, including synonyms and views, to enhance data structure and access efficiency
Translate technical specifications into scalable, maintainable code
Adhere to coding standards, SDLC, change management, and deployment standards
Assist in development and testing efforts
Perform ad-hoc analysis of data when necessary to develop solutions to reported incidents or enhancement requests
Provide off-hours/flex support as required
Stay up to date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.

Who We’re Looking For
2–4 years of database development experience recommended
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
Proficiency with SQL Server 2016–2022, data structures, normalization, and writing complex SQL queries
Experience with ETL processes, data transformations, synonyms, and views
Ability to translate specifications into clean, efficient code and troubleshoot existing data or code issues
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective written and verbal communication skills and comfort working both collaboratively and independently
Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills
Travel: 0–10%
Nice to have:
Experience with C#/.NET backend and modern UI frameworks
Familiarity with leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate development
Exposure to insurance domain concepts such as policy, billing, claims, and regulatory compliance (e.g., WCPOLS, WCSTAT)
Knowledge of SSIS packages, SSRS reporting, and SQL Server best practices (storage, indexing, and security)
