About the Department
The Golf Professional provides golf instruction, coaching, and new golfer development programs for patrons at Warm Springs and Quail Hollow golf courses. This position focuses on creating a fun, supportive learning environment for players of all skill levels while promoting the game of golf and encouraging lifelong participation. This position is open to individuals 16 years of age or older and works up to 19 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
Position Duties
- Instructs and coaches individuals in the game of golf. Provides golf club fitting services and swing instruction.
- Assists with tournament planning and operations. Identifies needs and key performance factors of students and participants; monitors and evaluates progress to develop performance.
- Assists in Golf Pro Shop and helps customers with sales and golf product questions.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
- One year of experience instructing and coaching golf.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the game of golf.
- Exercise some independent judgment;
- Deal with the public, coworkers and supervisors in a friendly and tactful manner;
- Perform basic mathematical calculations;
- Operate a cash register and calculate change quickly and accurately;
- Work extended weekend hours;
- Interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner;
- Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations;
- Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance;
- Complete assignments in a timely fashion;
- Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations;
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance;
- Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Two years' experience teaching golf and working at a golf course pro shop/front desk.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
