The Occupational Therapist I provides evaluation and treatment of the patient within the parameters of legal and professional guidelines and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The position instructs and directs Occupational Therapist Assistant and aides as assigned. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and implements the plan of care to improve, restore, and enhance performance in activities of daily living and functional mobility. This position performs documentation and quality improvement as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Provide occupational therapy, including selection and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Develop a treatment plan with measurable goals based on patient assessment.
  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, treatment and related follow-up services, including discharge planning.
  • Document and submit patient reports and charges within the established timeframe.
  • Train and educate patients and family members or others support, and document understanding of treatment plan and goals.
  • Assist with analysis of outcomes data to ensure compliance with established goals and regulations.
  • May assist with supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehab Technicians.
  • Assist with the review and update of policies, procedures, PI processes, and protocols.
  • Collaborate with patient and other healthcare personnel or outside agencies regarding coordination of care.
  • Complete appropriate goal re-assessment and discharge planning.
  • Provide leadership and oversight in specialty practice areas, assisting with program development as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy
  • Required Master's Degree Occupational Therapy
  • Preferred Doctorate Occupational Therapy
  • 1 year Occupational Therapy Required
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) - State Licensing Board
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
