DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the District Behavioral Analyst, to assist individual students who exhibit severe behavioral challenges in and outside of the classroom setting. They assist in the implementation of behavior plans and track data daily to provide necessary information for the purposes of monitoring and tracking progress for assigned student(s). Behavior technicians are responsible for providing behavior support to students with behavioral challenges in a variety of settings including special day classes, resource specialist classrooms, and or the general education classroom. They may be required to monitor and redirect student behaviors; support the acquisition of appropriate skills and behaviors; deliver and perform a variety of related tasks as assigned. Behaviors of concern can include, but are not limited to: elopement, hitting, kicking, scratching, biting, verbal aggression, other physical aggression, spitting, and verbal/physical refusal.

Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
- One year of experience providing support services to children with behavioral and/or emotional needs
- Knowledge and experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) treatment methodologies (i.e. incidental teaching, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), or Pivotal Response Training)
- Associates Degree or higher, OR 48-semester units of college
- Previous experience working with children
- Specialized training appropriate for areas of assignment (eg: behavior modification, restraint/crisis intervention technique, and strategies)
- Satisfactory completion of a district-approved training program in positive behavior supports and interventions, or willingness to complete the said program within the initial probationary period of employment
Required:
- Completion of 20-hour behavior technician training or completion of this within the first 60 days of employment
- Two years of higher education study (48-semester units), OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree, OR High School/equivalent and pass an assessment of knowledge/skills in assisting instruction
- Demonstration of previous equivalent training
- Fingerprints and TB test required upon initial employment, and post-offer/pre-placement physical.
Salary Info
Range 30 ($24.89 - $27.52 per hour, depending on similar experience)
