Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Tool Maker with extensive experience in precision machining and mold fabrication. This role is critical to the design, construction, and maintenance of complex tooling used in blow molding operations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of tool making processes, CNC programming, and mold assembly, along with a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications to build and repair molds and tooling
- Operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM) to fabricate precision components
- Assemble, fit, and test molds and tooling for blow molding applications
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on existing tooling to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling design and efficiency
- Maintain accurate records of tooling modifications and repairs
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Requirements
Qualifications
- Journeyman Tool Maker certification or equivalent experience (minimum 5–7 years in tool making)
- Proficiency in CNC machining, manual machining, and precision measuring instruments
- Strong understanding of mold design and blow molding processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks) preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

- Experience in the plastics or blow molding industry
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to train and mentor junior machinists or apprentices
